We recently completed an 8 day house and pet sitting in Truckee, Ca.  If you’re not familiar with it, Truckee is located about 15 miles north of Lake Tahoe.  From Truckee, it’s a short drive to the either the Northstar at Tahoe or to the Squaw Valley ski areas.  And since Truckee sits alongside Interstate 80, you can head East on the freeway and be in Reno, NV, in about 20 minutes.

While the homeowners took a vacation in Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico, we looked after their house plus their Chihauhau, Paco and their 2 cats, Mister and Gobi.  The house was located about 6 miles East of Truckee in a quite neighborhood.

Following our previous week in South Lake Tahoe where we had a really good snow fall, the weather turned springlike once we arrived in Truckee.  By the end of our stay in Truckee, daytime temps were reaching the mid 70’s.

While there, we took a run into Reno (where we followed the homeowner’s recommendation and ate at the all-you-can-eat Sushi Bar at the Atlantis Hotel;  it was super good), visited the Village at Squaw Valley and trolled around the historic part of Truckee.

As usual it was fun to play with the animals and once again be a temporary pet owner.
